Ironworks Golf Academy Adds Two New Instructors

The Ironworks Golf Academy is happy to add two new instructors to the team, Gordon Johnson & Brook Schmitt. Keep reading to learn more about them and what they bring to the Academy.



Gordon Johnson

Please help us welcome our newest Club Fitter to the Ironworks Golf Academy, Gordon Johnson!


Gordie was born and raised in Rockford and played high school golf at Jefferson High School. He decided to get into the golf profession in 2000 via the PGA of America program and began level one but left to pursue a career on the golf manufacturing side as a national account fitting representative.


Gordie has over 17 years of club fitting experience, ranging from Callaway National Fitting Team, Titleist Fitting Tech, Ping Fitting Tech, Golfsmith Master Club Fitter, PGA Superstore Tour Van Experience Master Club Fitter, and SeeMore Putter Institute Fitter/Instructor.

Gordie has also participated as a fitter for various manufactures at the John Deere Classic Pro-Am (TPC Deere Run), WGA Fitting Team (Conway Farms), PGA Championship (Whistling Straits) and BMW Championship (Cog Hill).


He has 20+ years' experience in the fitness/rehab profession with an emphasis on golf specialty exercises, as well as strengthening and preventative programs. He also carried certifications in fitness training, fitness therapy and post-surgical rehab, as well as working as a PTA in clinical settings.

We gladly welcome Gordy as part of our Ironworks Golf Academy as our Certified Club Fitter. Gordie will also serve as an integral part of our Junior Academy!

Brook Schmitt

Please help us welcome our newest Instructor to the Ironworks Golf Academy, Brook Schmitt!


Brook was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa and began his professional career in 1985 as an assistant at Janesville Country Club. He has held positions as an Assistant Professional at Nakoma Golf Club (Madison, WI), Assistant/Teaching Professional and Junior Golf Leader at Monona Golf Course (Monona, WI), Head Professional/General Manager at Door Creek Golf Course (Cottage Grove, WI), and General Manager/Owner of Foxboro Golf Club (Oregon, WI).


Brook is a Lifetime Member of the PGA of America and has served on numerous WPGA boards. Brook has been a consistent performer as a player in the state of Wisconsin over the years, highlighted by playing in 12 Nelthorpe Cup competitions, 1997 Wisconsin State Match Play Champion, and making the cut in the Greater Milwaukee Open.


Brook was the 2002 WPGA Junior Leader Award recipient and has coached numerous state opens, state high school, and junior golf championships (both individuals and teams).


As a member of the Ironworks Golf Academy team, Brook will be available to help our members improve their games and will also serve as an integral coach with our Ironworks Junior Golf Academy programs.
