Good morning, in like a lamb out like a lion has certainly rung true for March weather this year! We are doing everything we can to prep the course for opening. With erratic weather conditions, it has been difficult to project what is best balancing course access and what is best for our turf conditions throughout the growing season. Essentially, we do not want to put ourselves in a position where we damage turf health to try and capture a few extra rounds of golf very early in the season. Given the snow cover we have on the course currently, we have decided to push opening day back once again.
Although the snow will likely melt off tomorrow, we are looking at a potential snow Saturday and forecasted rains for most of next week. These rain/snow events will leave the top layer of soil and turf very slimy and susceptible to damage. The good news is that temperatures appear to be on the rise in the extended forecast; taking all variables in to account, I feel it is best that we reset our opening day for Friday, April 8.
